Russian, Algerian top diplomats discuss bilateral relations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Algerian counterpart Sabri Bukadum have discussed the prospects of bilateral relations and conflict settlement in the Middle East and North Africa, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

“Special attention was paid to the current situation in Syria, Libya, as well as Western Sahara regulation in the run-up to its discussion at the UN Security Council.

Moscow and Algeria have reaffirmed their commitment to unblock all conflict situations through political and diplomatic methods on the basis of respect for norms and principles of the international law and the UN Charter,” the foreign ministry said.

The sides also discussed the ways to develop foreign policy cooperation and mutually beneficial partnership between Russia and Algeria in various spheres.

Bukadum is currently in Moscow for the fifth session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum.
