Algeria’s Chief of Army Staff  Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah said yesterday that Algeria has been a target of “despicable schemes aimed at destabilising and threatening its security” since 2015.

“We have received confirmed information about the malignant plan to drive the country into a state of blockage which began in 2015. We have revealed the threads of this conspiracy and its backgrounds,” Salah said.

“We are working calmly and patiently to dismantle the mines planted by these corrupters in the state’s various sectors and vital structures. These sectors will be cleared thanks to the concerted efforts of all the good people, and the Algerian people’s keenness to protect their homeland and the readiness of our sons and brothers in the army to preserve its borders,” he added.

He called on the Algerian people to preserve the peaceful nature of the popular movement and protect it from any attempts to sabotage it.
