Sexual harassment cases within Israel Police rise in 2018

Complaints against sexual harassment inside the Israeli police force increased 20 per cent in 2018, Israeli public broadcaster Kan revealed yesterday.

According to the reports, 110 complaints were filed to the investigation department in Israel Police compared to 89 complaints in 2017 and 65 in 2016.

Investigations into half of the complaints recommended officers be disciplined while in other cases no crimes were said to have been committed.

In 2016, the former police inspector Roni Al-Sheikh refused to accept complaints filed by unknown victims in relation to sexual harassment.

Al-Sheikh said that police would not deal with complaints filed by unknown victims because such this would lead to a culture of revenge within the police force.
