MEMO photographer Mohammed Asad has won third place in the 4th annual International Photography 35Awards.
Asad’s photograph of a bare-chested Palestinian man carrying a slingshot and the Palestinian flag while taking part in the Great March of Return protests at the Gaza-Israel fence saw him beat tens of thousands of entries to reach the top spot.
The judging panel of 50 experts chose Asad’s picture of Abu Amro as the best in the Street category.
In February, Asad won the Pictures of the Year International (POYI) Award of Excellence for 2019 for their photographs of Palestinian children killed by the Israeli army during the return protests.
Asad has had his camera targeted by occupation forces while he’s been covering the protests.
