This is the first exhibition of Mohammed Asad in Qatar

MEMO photographer from the Gaza Strip Mohammed Asad is in Qatar to display his work covering the popular March of Return protests.

The exhibition, part of events held by the Qatar Youth Opposed to Normalization (QAYON), is an effort to highlight the occupation’s manoeuvres to limit freedom of the press, attack civilians, including children, and use banned weapons on peaceful protesters, organisers said.

Asad said this is the first exhibition of his work that he has been able to attend as a result of the crippling Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip which has left him unable to cross the border and travel abroad.

On this trip, he took with him his damaged camera, which was targeted by an Israeli sniper as he covered the peaceful Gaza protests. The majority of the pictures and videos on display were taken by the damaged camera and this gave rise to the name of the exhibition “The assassination of the Camera”, Asad explained.
