The Israeli occupation authorities allowed fuel shipments to enter the blockaded Gaza Strip on Tuesday after supplies had been stopped during Israel’s bombing of the enclave over the weekend, Anadolu has reported.

Tuesday’s fuel shipments apparently entered Gaza through the Kerem Shalom land crossing linking Gaza to Israel and Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Israeli army pounded the Hamas-run coastal territory with air strikes and artillery barrages. Resistance factions responded by firing rockets towards southern Israel.

The Israeli offensive ended on Monday at dawn, when a ceasefire — the exact terms of which remain unclear — came into effect. At least 27 Palestinians were killed in the exchange and scores more were injured. Israeli media reported that four Israelis were also killed.

The offensive began last Friday when four Palestinians were killed by Israeli military strikes on civil and security positions in Gaza.
