Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister has called for direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians to reach a solution for the Middle East crisis, DPA reported on Tuesday.

“It will be good to start direct talks,” said Faisal Bin Farhan Al-Saud, adding:

This way peace could be reached.

The minister welcomed the US “deal of the century” as a basis for solving the Middle East crisis. “In principle, we support any efforts trying to find a path for peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis.”

However, he said that the Palestinians should have a say about the plan and what it contains. “At the end, the Palestinians must decide what can they accept of it, and we will support them,” he said.

It is worth noting that the Palestinians and many Arab and Islamic nations have rejected the Donald Trump “peace plan” known as the “deal of the century”.

Despite not having diplomatic relations, Saudi Arabia and Israel now maintain good links and both are allied with the US against Iranian influence in the Middle East.
