Ethiopia: Summoning ambassadors to Cairo, Khartoum not related to Renaissance Dam

March 7, 2020 at 11:55 am

Spokesperson of Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nebiat Getachew, denied on Friday that the summoning of his country’s ambassadors in Cairo and Khartoum has any connection to the Renaissance Dam, Youm7.com reported.

Getachew announced that summoning the ambassadors was part of a routine activity, noting that the ambassadors to Sudan and Egypt were two out of eight ambassadors summoned to the country.

He noted that the ambassadors to Britain, Cuba, Belgium, Morocco, Australia and Algeria were also summoned at the same time the ambassadors to Egypt and Sudan were called for.

Getachew’s remarks came following news reports published on Thursday linking the issue to the latest development related to the Renaissance Dam.
