The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) revealed on Monday that the UAE is sending aviation fuel to the areas controlled by the renegade General Khalifa Haftar’s forces.

In a statement, the NOC denounced the illegal import of aviation fuel from the UAE carried out by the forces of the eastern region, controlled by Haftar, over the previous days.

The NOC said in a statement that it had informed the United Nations, Libya’s internationally recognised Government of National Accord (GNA) and many other governments of these clear violations of UN resolutions and Libyan laws.

The statement stated that the arrival of a fuel shipment to the port of Benghazi “is considered as a clear violation of the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations on Libya and the exclusive right of the internationally recognized NOC to carry out fuel import operations.”

The statement indicated that the shipment arrived in Benghazi from the UAE on board Gulf Petroleum 4.

In September 2019, the UAE signed an international statement confirming its full support for the NOC as the sole independent, legitimate and neutral oil company in Libya.
