Head of the Research Centre of Islamic Legislative Assembly MP Alireza Zakani has criticised the country’s security services over the recent blackout affecting the Natanz nuclear facility.

Zakani stressed during a press conference that the blackout that occurred on Sunday: “Had destroyed most of the uranium enrichment facilities in the country and damaged or destroyed a few thousand centrifuges.”

The Iranian lawmaker revealed that a high-capacity nuclear unit, which had been transported outside the country for repair, had returned loaded with 150 kilograms of explosives and was installed in an office containing sensitive materials.

Zakani criticised the security services’ failure to thwart the sabotage operation, emphasising that Iran has become a “paradise for spies” and described the Iranian authorities’ promises to install modern centrifuges at the Natanz facility after the recent incident as “false”.

Israeli media reports have recently suggested that the Mossad intelligence agency had planned for the attack on the Iranian Natanz nuclear plant.
