Israel will work with the international community to weaken the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said during a meeting with his British counterpart Dominic Raab, according to the Jerusalem Post.
"This is an Israeli, Palestinian, regional and international interest that will strengthen stability in the Middle East and reduce the threat to residents of Israel," the newspaper quoted Ashkenazi as saying during the British foreign secretary's visit to Jerusalem.
Raab arrived in Israel on Tuesday for a one-day visit to discuss and solidify the truce reached last week between Israel and Hamas after 11 days of Israeli military raids on the besieged Gaza Strip. Some 248 Palestinians were killed in the air strikes, including 66 children. Twelve Israelis were also killed.
