Dismissed Fatah leader Mohammad Dahlan has officially asked local and regional sides to allow him to attend meetings being held by Palestinian factions in Cairo, Lebanon’s Al-Akhbar newspaper has revealed.

Egypt and the UAE asked Dahlan to find a suitable means for him to be able to join the meetings, the paper added.

Dahlan heads the Democratic Reform Current, whose members defected from Fatah over their discontent with the way it is being run by Mahmoud Abbas and his team. Its members formed a new party after failing to reform Fatah.

Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas has been working to get Dahlan supporters back into Fatah’s fold. He has reinstated their salaries and paid them their dues for the periods they were not paid in an effort to lure them back, members have said. Dahlan was not given the same offerings.
