Members of Middle East Monitor (MEMO)’s Portuguese language site, Ahmad Alzoubi, Hani Aldrsani and Lina Bakr were received on Tuesday by the former Brazilian President Michel Temer at his office in São Paulo.

A Lebanese descendant with a long political history at heart of government in Brazil, Temer was outspoken following the deadly Beirut port blast last year and led a Brazilian delegation in support of the Lebanese people.

The MEMO team presented him with publications from MEMO Publishers in Brazil, addressing historical aspects of the Palestinian struggle. Temer was introduced to the editorial and journalistic project of Middle East Monitor and its focus on Brazil’s relations with the Palestinian cause.

A constitutional lawyer, Temer has repeatedly backed the two-state solution, holding the UN and the international community accountable for the serious situation experienced between Israel and Palestine. The multilateral organisation must enforce the rights of the Palestinian people to an independent state, he said.
