Turkish judiciary ordered the detention of three people linked to Daesh, 10 September 2021 [Anadolu Agency]

The Turkish judiciary today ordered the detention of three people linked to Daesh, including the group’s so-called “security official in Syria”.

The Duty Penal Court in Sakarya, central Turkey, issued an order to imprison the three suspects, including an Iraqi, on charges of activities within the terrorist organisation. There others were conditionally released.

The anti-terror units of the Sakarya Security Directorate had previously carried out a simultaneous security operation in five states against Daesh elements, after receiving information about the presence of people who had “pledged allegiance” to the group in mosques in Syria. Daesh social media platforms were also examined for evidence.

The operation resulted in the arrest of six people, including the Syrian ‘AS’, “the security official for the Deir Ez-Zor region in Syria”, and “HK”, the mosques official in the organisation.
