At least 33 people were injured after two trains collided in the Tunisian capital yesterday, Tunisian Railways Company said.

The injured were transferred to a number of hospitals for medical care, local media said.

There were no further details on the cause of the accident. However, the company said it had launched an investigation into the crash.

Tunisia witnesses approximately 100 rail crashes a year, mostly at junctions with roads.
