US to discuss counterterrorism and human trafficking with Qatar

The US and Qatar are to discuss counterterrorism efforts and moves to combat human trafficking in a meeting in Washington tomorrow. The meeting will be the fourth annual US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue, said the State Department.

“Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will welcome Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and Qatar’s delegation to Washington, DC on 12 November,” it was announced. “The Secretary will be joined by officials from the National Security Council, USAID, the Department of Defence and other agencies.”

After public remarks from Blinken and Bin Abdulrahman at the opening of the dialogue, the delegation will discuss issues of mutual concern. These will include regional stability, defence cooperation and public health.

Also on the agenda are “counterterrorism, combatting human trafficking, human rights, climate change, energy efficiency, energy independence, humanitarian aid, economic cooperation and cultural and educational exchanges.”
