Deadly storm kills 4 in Turkey

A powerful storm, starting in Istanbul and other parts of Turkey on Monday, killed at least four people and caused havoc in the city of 20 million people, local media reports.

According to the report, a woman victim who died in Istanbul’s Esenyurt district, where strong gusts tore off part of a roof which landed on her and her child. The child was saved by the rescue team, the report added.

The Istanbul Governor’s office said three other people were killed in the city, including a foreign national.

The report says nineteen people were injured, including three people who were in serious condition.

Winds of up to 81 mph were recorded in Istanbul, and video footage showed buildings being destroyed, and ships being blown off their moorings.
