The Khartoum Resistance Coordination Committees yesterday called for a sit-in in front of the presidential palace in the capital, Khartoum, “to overthrow the regime”, Anadolu reported.
“We announce the organisation of a sit-in in front of the Sudanese People’s Palace to accomplish the tasks of the revolution and bring down the regime,” the Committees said in a statement, calling on all Sudanese people to head to the palace “to impose a siege on the tyrant and liberate Sudan from the rule of military militias,” in reference to army chief, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
“We appeal to all the revolutionary forces, both professional and political, to align themselves with the demands for radical change and emancipation from the military totalitarian rule,” the statement said.
Anadolu quoted witnesses as saying that the Sudanese security forces fired tear gas to disperse the protesters in front of the presidential palace, adding that the security forces have been trying to disperse the protesters for more than four hours.

Earlier, thousands of demonstrators arrived at the southern gate of the presidential palace in Khartoum, to reject the political agreement signed by the army chief and Prime Minister, Abdallah Hamdok and to demand full civilian rule.
The National Umma Party appealed to the Sudanese army and other groups to protect the masses gathered in front of the presidential palace.
“We appeal to the honourable members of our armed forces and other agencies to work to protect the masses now gathered in front of the Republican Palace and in all the different cities of Sudan,” the party said in a statement.
“We also appeal to the military component to respond to the legitimate aspirations of the people by handing over civilian authority to the people and restoring the democratic transitional path,” it added.
