The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) shot and killed another Palestinian journalist yesterday, and then attacked the funeral procession. Ghufran Warasneh, 31, was killed near Al-Aroub refugee camp, north of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.
Yesterday was Warasneh’s first day at work. She was taken to Al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron where she was pronounced dead.
Israeli soldiers fired tear gas canisters and stun grenades, and prevented the ambulance carrying Warasneh’s body from entering the refugee camp by closing the gate at its entrance. Local sources said that mourners carried the body into the camp on foot.
The attack is yet another example of soldiers attacking Palestinian funerals and mourners. Soldiers recently attacked the funeral of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was shot and killed by an Israeli sniper last month.
