The United States stands with the Gulf countries against any threat to their lands or people, a senior military official said, adding that Iran is considered the greatest threat to security and stability in the region.

“The United States remains committed to its partners in the region, as such a partnership remains of paramount importance to regional security and stability,” senior official in the US Central Command (CENTCOM) Public Affairs, Major John Moore, said.

“In past years, the American commitment to the region was measured by the number of soldiers on the ground, but times have changed, and the U.S. Central Command has continued to stand side by side with our allies and partners to defeat and deter malign behaviour and all critical threats,” he added.

The US military official stressed that the Central Command would remain committed to its regional partnerships and its goal of promoting peace and security in the region.

Major Moore said that Iran is considered the greatest threat to regional security and stability, explaining that Tehran supplies its proxies in the region with weapons, directing them to engage in “terrorist acts to undermine local governments.”

“We are constantly monitoring currents of threat in the region, and we are in constant contact with our partners, including the Saudi armed forces, and when necessary, we will not hesitate to take measures to defend our forces or our partners in the region,” he said.

In the same context, Major Moore stressed the depth and strength of the long-term defence partnership between the US Central Command and the UAE Armed Forces.
