Seventy-four Egyptians from one village have died in Libya due to Storm Daniel.
Sadness prevailed in the village of Al-Sharif, south of the Beni Suef Governorate, after reports emerged of the death of dozens of the village’s young men in the storm.
The village cleric and a relative of the storm’s victims, Abdel Basset Abdel Samad Abdel Salam confirmed the death of 74 young men from the village in Libya, including “siblings and cousins, all from one family”.
He explained that arrangements are being made to repatriate their bodies so they can be buried in their village.
Yesterday, the Egyptian Ministry of Emigration said 87 bodies of Egyptians who died in Libya due to Storm Daniel have been repatriated by the Egyptian military and were buried in their respective towns.
The Libyan Coastal Security Administration in Tobruk announced the arrival of 145 bodies of Egyptians who had died in the storm and who will be repatriated to Egypt.
