Cairo warns against pushing defenceless Palestinians towards Egypt border

A senior Egyptian official warned against pushing defenceless Palestinians towards the Egyptian border and fueling calls by some parties for a mass exodus to escape from Israel’s heavy military bombardment.

“Egypt has not hesitated since the deterioration of the situation in the occupied territories and has intensified its contacts with all active parties of the international community to stop the escalation and stop the bloodshed of the Palestinian people,” Al-Qahera News TV channel quoted the source as saying.

The source confirmed that Cairo’s vision was far-reaching when it warned everyone about the danger of the situation and its repercussions on the principles of the Palestinian issue.

The source held the Israeli authorities responsible for the need to set up humanitarian corridors to help the people of Gaza, stressing the need to respond to the voice of reason and stop military operations immediately.

The Sinai Foundation, a rights group in Egypt, revealed today that it “obtained exclusive footages confirming the blocking of Egyptian fuel trucks and humanitarian aids from access to the Rafah land crossing borders after Israel issued a warning to the Egyptian authorities that if it brought relief supplies into the Gaza Strip, the trucks would be bombed.”
