Israel must abide by international humanitarian law and stop targeting medical crews in Gaza, Palmed Europe said in a statement on Saturday.

“It is with indescribable shock and pain that we are witnessing the targeting of medical and paramedic teams in broad daylight. Not to mention the bombing of hospitals in such a small besieged piece of land,” it said in reference to Israel’s continuous and ongoing bombardment of the besieged Gaza Strip since 7 October.

“We learnt that 23 ambulances and 15 hospitals have been bombed with the tragic death of 10 medics and many more are injured.”

Palmed Europe said it had received “urgent calls from our medical colleagues in Gaza” in which “they are shouting for an immediate end to the targeting of civilians in Gaza and to to send medical supplies and medicines.”

Horrific scenes from the targeting of ambulances in #Gaza. Despite the pain and fear, our medical teams persist on conducting their humanitarian duty in the Gaza Strip. 🙏🙏#NotATarget #Gaza_under_attack #HumanitarianCrisis pic.twitter.com/of3xEApOMp

It went on to urge the UN, the international community and human rights organisations to “put an end to the genocide, war crimes, indiscriminate killing and targeting of civilians,” destruction of infrastructure, forced displacement and collective punishment inflicted on 2.3 million Palestinians trapped in the besieged Gaza Strip. “We need you to put pressure on the Israeli government to abide by the international humanitarian law,” it said, while calling for humanitarian corridors to be opened.
