Majority of 18-24-years-olds in UK sympathise with Palestine

The majority of Britons aged between 18-24 years old sympathise with the Palestinians in the ongoing situation, a YouGov poll found yesterday.

Of the 2,574 adults surveyed as asked “Which side in the Israeli‑Palestinian conflict do you sympathise with more?”, 39 per cent of 18-24-year-olds said they sympathised with the Palestinian side, while 11 per cent said they sympathised with Israel.

Some 34 per cent said they didn’t know.Pensioners over 65 years ago were found to sympathise more with Israel, with 37 per cent saying they do so compared to 11 per cent saying they sympathise with the Palestinian side and 36 per cent saying they sympathised with both.

Members of the Labour Party were also found to sympathise more with the Palestinian side than followers of any other political party.

While Conservative party members were the biggest supporters of Israel, the survey found.

Almost 30 per cent of respondents said they sympathised with both sides equally and 33 per cent said they didn’t know where to stand.
