Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian yesterday warned the United States and Israel that the situation in the region could spiral out of control “at any moment” if the US “proxy war” on Gaza continues.

“Today, America entered into a proxy war against the people of Gaza, and it must be said that the region today is a powder keg, and any miscalculation, genocide, and forced displacement of the people of Gaza could have equally significant consequences for the region,” he said during a joint press conference with his South African counterpart.

“Today we discussed issues and developments in Gaza in addition to bilateral issues, and we are grateful for South Africa’s positions in defending the Palestinian people and fighting the apartheid Zionist regime,” he added.

Abdollahian said US President Joe Biden has rushed to Tel Aviv to defend a “regime that targets civilians, hospitals and residential centres.”

Abdollahian warned Washington and Tel Aviv that “if they do not immediately stop the crime against humanity in Gaza, there is a possibility that, at any moment, control of the region will be lost and smoke will rise and reach the eyes of the warmongers.”
