Palestinians killed as Israeli air strikes hit Jenin refugee camp

While Israeli warplanes are bombing Gaza, killing more than 5,700 Palestinians since 7 October 2023, Tel Aviv struck the Jenin refugee camp in occupied West Bank early on 25 October, destroying a mosque and killing several people. At least 103 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank in just over 2 weeks.

Israeli Occupation Forces conducted a raid and airstrike on the Jenin camp, resulting in the deaths of four Palestinians, reported by the Wafa news agency.

Accompanied by two military bulldozers, the Israeli Occupation Forces, raided the towns of Burqin, Wadi Burqin, and the Al-Hadaf neighbourhood within the camp and positioned snipers on the rooftops of several Palestinian residences and buildings.

Moreover, an Israeli aircraft launched a minimum of two missiles against Palestinians near the Jenin Camp cemetery, resulting in the deaths of Mohammad Qadri Al-Sabah, Mahmoud Al-Fayed, Mohammad Abu Qatana and 15-year-old Eid Nabil Qassem Mar’i, while several others sustained severe injuries.

Wissam Bakr, the Director of Jenin Governmental Hospital, confirmed the deaths of two Palestinians who were admitted at his hospital, while the third was transferred to Ibn Sina Hospital. He explained that approximately 23 individuals, among them a child, sustained injuries, with several in critical condition.

Local residents added that the Occupation Forces blocked the arrival of ambulances to attend to the casualties and resorted to firing bullets at anyone who approached the injured. Additionally, it was noted that various neighbourhoods in the city of Jenin experienced a power outage, coinciding with the Occupation’s military incursion.

According to Wafa, 104 Palestinians have been killed as a result of the Occupation’s ongoing aggression against Palestinians in the West Bank since 7 October, including two prisoners inside Israeli Occupation prisons.

Israel’s Occupation of Palestinian Territories is illegal under international law.

Tensions in the Occupied West Bank have escalated significantly since 7 October after the Palestinian Resistance initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel, a multi-pronged surprise attack including a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel.

The Resistance said the offensive was in retaliation for the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied East Jerusalem and Israeli settlers’ growing violence against Palestinians.

In addition to the siege, the Israeli military launched Operation Swords of Iron “against Hamas”, with strikes killing over 5,800 people, including 1,000 children. The majority of those affected are civilians and rights groups have warned that genocide is being carried out against the Palestinian people.
