The Israeli occupation army today detained more than 70 Palestinians from across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
In a statement, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said the new arrests bring the total number of Palestinians detained by the Israeli forces since 7 Octoberr to nearly 1,530.
Before 7 October, the number of Palestinians detained in Israeli jails was around 5,200, including more than 1,000 held under Israel’s administrative detention policy. The controversial policy allows Israeli authorities to detain anyone for six months without charge or trial, which can be extended indefinitely.
Some 103 Palestinians, including 32 children, have been killed in the occupied West Bank at the hands of Israeli occupation forces and illegal settlers since 7 October, a third of all Palestinian fatalities in the West Bank so far in 2023, according to UN OCHA.
