A Palestinian family was attacked yesterday by Israeli extremists who surrounded their house, located in the Wadi Ara region in Israel, and tried to set it on fire, reported Arab48.

They also chanted racist slogans, such as “Death to the Arabs”, “Leave the area, you animals”, “Return to Gaza” and “Death to the troublemakers” while attempting to set the family’s house on fire.

According to Arab48, the Palestinian family, based in the city of Harish, has sought refuge in a relative’s residence within the Wadi Ara area after the police intervened and escorted them from the apartment.

It comes after an attack by hundreds of far-right Israelis on Palestinian students at the dorms of Netanya Academic College in central Israel on Saturday, which left Arab students in Israel feeling unsafe on campus.

Activists said 30 Palestinian students were locked in their rooms as crowds were filmed attempting to break down security barriers, while others could be heard chanting “Death to Arabs”.

Since the Palestinian Resistance group, Hamas, launched its Operation Al-Aqsa Flood into Israeli-held territory surrounding Gaza, Occupation Forces have subjected the besieged land Strip to a brutal campaign of airstrikes and bombings, killing thousands of civilians and forcing Gazans to flee to the south in an effort to exile them into Egypt’s Sinai desert.

The West Bank and Arab towns in Israel have also been affected by the developments, with illegal Jewish settlers attacking Palestinians and their properties, while largely backed by the Israeli military. Arab Israeli citizens make up 20 per cent of the population in the country.
