Israeli occupation authorities yesterday arrested journalist Somaya Jawabra after summoning her for an interview at the Huwara camp, which is under the control of the Israeli army in southern Nablus.

Journalist Tariq Youssef Al-Sarkaji, Jawabra’s husband, told Quds Press that he received a call earlier in the afternoon from an officer in the Israeli intelligence requesting both he and his wife come for questioning at the Huwara camp. Before leaving, when Al-Sarkaji inquired about his wife’s whereabouts, the officer replied, “I don’t know.”

Jawabra managed to make a brief phone call to her family, informing them of her detention before the call abruptly ended.

Jawabra is a mother of three and is currently seven months pregnant, which has raised concerns for her health and that of her unborn child.

This comes less than 24 hours after Israeli occupation forces arrested journalist Amir Abu Aram after raiding his house near Ramallah.

Somaya Jawabra is a member of the monitoring team at the Palestinian Information Centre.
