The Israeli occupation authorities arrested Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi, 22, at dawn on Monday, Anadolu has reported. According to her mother Nariman, Israeli security forces raided the family home in Nabi Saleh near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
The former winner of the Handala Courage Award was arrested after the Israeli forces had searched her and vandalised her home. All mobile phones in the house were confiscated.
Tamimi was famously arrested in 2017 and imprisoned for eight months after she slapped an Israeli soldier. Her cousin had been shot in the head by a soldier with a rubber bullet just before this incident.
The Israeli authorities arrested Ahed’s father Bassem a few days ago. Her father, mother and siblings have been arrested and injured several times by the Israeli army. She herself has been wounded three times and had her hand fractured.
