Jordan’s former Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Marwan Muasher, has warned that Israeli attempts to displace Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank will not stop. Such efforts, he pointed out, happened clearly before 7 October and since then through the systematic killing and arrest of the Palestinian people.
Muasher made his comment on Monday during a symposium held by the Amman Group for Future Dialogues under the banner “The aggression against Gaza and its effects on Jordan”.
The Israeli government, said the former deputy PM, does not want to stop the war despite global pressure and has set impossible conditions for agreeing to end it. The occupation state has demanded that all captured Israelis be returned while it continues its aggression against Gaza to eliminate resistance movement Hamas.
He noted that the number of Palestinians exceeds the number of Israelis, as the number of Palestinians is now approximately 7.4 million, while the number of Israelis is around 7.2m, two million of whom are Palestinians holding Israeli citizenship. However, these “Arab Israelis” are treated as second-class citizens and Israel has no other option but to try to get rid of the largest number of Palestinians, those in the occupied West Bank, the Gaza Strip and Jerusalem. He added that attempts to warn against mass displacement may have succeeded temporarily, but this does not mean that Israel has abandoned the project.
Regarding the upcoming US presidential election, Muasher presented the chances of the presidential candidates and the intense competition between them. Some states, he said — naming Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada — will determine who wins. He added that the votes of Arab and Muslim Americans will also play a major role due to the small difference in votes between the candidates. In his opinion, Donald Trump will win the presidential race.
