Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein, the half-brother of the Jordanian king and president of the Jordanian Football Association, called on all football fans around the world to stand together to raise the voice of justice, and to pressure FIFA to expel Israel.

Reaffirming the Jordanian Football Association’s firm position that sport should be a platform for unity and solidarity, and not for discrimination or injustice, he said: “The continuation of the status quo without taking decisive steps reinforces double standards and reflects an unfair image of the sports world.

This came as the Board of Directors of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) is due to meet on 20 July to review the legal opinion regarding the Israeli Federation remaining under its umbrella.

This meeting comes in light of increasing international pressure on FIFA to take a decisive stance regarding the human rights violations in the occupied Palestinian territories by Israeli occupation forces.

Al-Husseinh highlighted the international community’s role in pressuring sports organisations to achieve justice, unity and solidarity among peoples, praising the efforts of fans and activists in supporting humanitarian issues through sports.
