Former Moroccan Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the Justice and Development Party, Abdelilah Benkirane, has warned that Israel represents a threat to all Arab countries, not just the Palestinians.
Speaking at a meeting of the party’s General Secretariat in the capital, Rabat, Benkirane said: “Israel not only threatens the Palestinians in all Palestinian regions, but it is a threat to the rest of the other Arab countries.”
His comments came as the Israeli Air Force had attacked the Yemeni city of Hudaydah in what one member of the Knesset said was “a message to all of the Middle East.”
At least six people were killed and 83 others injured in Israeli air strikes on the port city in western Yemen on Saturday, according to the Houthi-run Health Ministry.
Israel claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying it was a “direct response” to a drone attack launched by the Houthis on Tel Aviv on Friday, which killed an Israeli and injured ten others.
Saturday’s attack marked the first direct Israeli response to recent Houthi attacks.
