Lebanon’s Hezbollah has offered its condolences to the Palestinian people and Hamas after the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, Quds Press has reported. The head of the Hamas political bureau was killed in Tehran overnight, presumably by Israel or pro-Israel forces.
“To the struggling, oppressed and proud people; to our honourable brothers in the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas; to all the dear factions in the Palestinian resistance; to our Arab nations; and to every free and honourable resistance fighter, we offer our deepest condolences for the martyrdom of the great and honest leader and dear brother, Ismail Haniyeh, may God have mercy on his soul,” said Hezbollah. “We send a special message to his honourable family that has offered dozens of martyrs, both men and women, for the sake of liberating Jerusalem and Palestine. We ask God Almighty to grant them patience, solace and reward in this world and the hereafter.”
Hezbollah described Haniyeh as one of the great resistance leaders in this era who stood with all courage in the face of the American domination project and the Zionist occupation, who was ready for such an end.
“The martyrdom of the leader Haniyeh will strengthen the determination and persistence of the resistance fighters… It will make their resolve stronger in confronting the Zionist enemy, the killer of women and children, the perpetrator of genocide in Gaza, and the usurper of the land of Palestine and the sanctities of the nation.”
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, mourned Haniyeh on Wednesday morning following an Israeli strike on the building where he was staying in Tehran after participating in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president. Israel has not made any official comment about the assassination.
