US army sends soldiers, reinforcements to eastern Syria base

The US-led international coalition forces have sent military reinforcements with a group of US Army soldiers to their largest military base in Syria. Activist Wissam Al-Akidi, from the countryside of Deir Ez-Zor Governorate, told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that a military cargo plane belonging to US forces operating under the umbrella of the international coalition arrived on Thursday evening at the coalition’s base in Al-Omar oil field in Syria’s Deir Ez-Zor Governorate, coming from the international coalition bases in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Al-Akidi confirmed that the US cargo plane that landed in the Al-Omar oil field base was carrying military equipment and ammunition, in addition to 50 US soldiers to prepare for conducting intensive military training inside the base in the coming days. He noted that the international coalition forces led by the US Army deployed at the nearby Conoco gas field base began military training for heavy artillery, which included flying and training raids by US warplanes in the skies of the northern Deir Ez-Zor countryside after military reinforcements arrived at the base. The planes carried weapons, ammunition and logistical equipment.

The US Army is increasing its presence by conducting training at its bases in eastern and northeastern Syria. This coincides with the deployment of Iranian militias on the opposite bank of the Euphrates River in the eastern Deir Ez-Zor countryside. This deployment follows the assassination of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran at dawn on Wednesday. Hours before, the assassination of prominent Hezbollah military leader Fuad Shukr occurred in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
