Jordan will not allow any party to violate its airspace, Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh stressed yesterday as regional tensions between Israel and Iran rise.
Speaking at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting, Al-Khasawneh stressed that Jordan will confront any threat to its national security and citizens, noting that Amman has clearly and explicitly informed the Iranian and Israeli sides that it will not allow anyone to violate its airspace and endanger the lives or safety of its citizens.
He went on to condemn the Israeli attack on Al-Tabi’in School in Gaza City’s Daraj neighbourhood on Saturday which killed more than 100 Palestinians while they performed the fajr (dawn) prayer, calling it a heinous crime which is added to the series of violations Israel has committed in Gaza.
He described the Israeli attack as a blatant breach of international law and humanitarian standards.
Israel believes that Iran has planned a large-scale attack on critical strategic points within the occupation state in retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah Commander Fuad Shukr and Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh.
