The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced a €25 million ($27 million) loan to Turkiye’s Polinas Plastik, aimed at supporting the company’s capital expenditure projects. The financing will be directed towards enhancing resource and energy efficiency on the production line, as well as the installation of solar panels.

EBRD announcement from their official webpage says the loan will fund the establishment of a new production line for biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film, along with the acquisition of new machinery. Additionally, the investment will facilitate the integration of solar energy into the company’s operations.

This initiative is expected to significantly reduce Polinas Plastik’s carbon emissions by increasing reliance on renewable energy.

The report says the project will also enable the production of fully recyclable packaging materials, incorporating both recycled and bio-based content, furthering the company’s commitment to sustainability.
