Jordan announced yesterday evening that it would reopen the King Hussein Bridge (Alleby) border crossing to passenger traffic today after it was closed on Sunday.
The decision was announced in a statement by the spokesman for the Public Security Directorate, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Amer Sartawi.
It marks the fourth decision made regarding the crossing, which connects Jordan with the occupied West Bank.
The crossing had been closed in both directions since Sunday following the killing of three Israelis in a shooting carried out by a Jordanian driver, identified as Maher Jazi, from Ma’an governorate in southern Jordan, according to Israeli media.
Sartawi stated: “The King Hussein Bridge will reopen for travel tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8:00 AM (5:00 GMT), but it will remain closed to freight traffic.”
The crossing, referred to as the Allenby Bridge on the Israeli side, is part of the border crossing connecting the Jordanian side, known as the King Hussein Bridge, with the Palestinian side, called Al-Karama Crossing.
The bridge was initially closed hours after the attack, reopened on Monday, but was closed again later that morning.
