The South Cairo Criminal Court yesterday sentenced an English teacher to death by hanging for torturing and killing three women earlier this year.

The court’s decision came after the Grand Mufti upheld the death sentence against 37-year-old Karim Salim, an English teacher with over 629,000 followers on TikTok.

The public prosecution charged Salim with killing three women after drugging and sexually abusing them before and after their deaths, recording videos of these acts.

The defendant is a graduate of the United States and holds American citizenship. During investigations he confessed to all charges and identified the location where he kept the tools used to drug his victims and the quantities he administered.

The Public Prosecution had referred Salim to the criminal court on charges of murder, drug possession, drug trafficking and human trafficking.

He committed his crimes on 15 November 2023, 8 April 2024, and 15 May 2024 in the Cairo Governorate.

The sentence can be appealed.
