Eight Israeli soldiers have been killed, including three senior officers, while seven others were seriously injured during fighting with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah said its fighters confronted an Israeli infantry force that tried to enter the town of Odaisseh, forcing them to retreat.
In a separate statement, the group said it had also targeted Israeli army gatherings, sites and towns in the Upper Galilee, Western Galilee and the Haifa area.
This comes as the Israeli occupation army continues to shell and raid southern Lebanon, the Bekaa and the southern suburbs of Beirut as part of the ongoing large-scale aggression against Lebanon which has entered its second week.
Israel has also declared towns adjacent to its border with Lebanon border “closed military zones”.
The Israeli army has instructed the residents of the southern suburb of Beirut, specifically Haret Hreik, to immediately evacuate their homes under the pretext of being located near Hezbollah facilities.
The Israeli occupation army has announced the inclusion of the 36th Division in the ground invasion into southern Lebanon, and demanded the residents of 28 Lebanese villages immediately evacuate their homes on Tuesday and 24 villages and towns yesterday.
