Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that his government is working to strengthen the internal front “as the fire ignited by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon approaches our borders.”
Speaking yesterday, at the headquarters of the Justice and Development Party in Ankara, Erdogan appeared to be reiterating concerns about what he described as the threat of Israel moving towards Damascus, warning that Israeli control of the Syrian capital could lead to significant changes in the country’s geopolitical map.
He also noted that this situation “would not be limited to Damascus, but could extend to northern Syria, which may pose a direct threat to Turkish security along its southern borders.”
