The Israeli occupation army published the names and photos of six Palestinian journalists in Gaza on Wednesday, accusing them of belonging to the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad, Al-Khaleej online has reported, citing an IDF post on X.
The occupation army claimed that intelligence and documents confirm that the six journalists from Al Jazeera — Anas Al-Sharif, Alaa Salama, Hossam Shabat, Ashraf Al-Sarraj, Ismail Abu Amro and Talal Al-Arouqi — are members of the two resistance groups. It added that Abu Amro was attacked by the military several months ago in Gaza and was injured. “Documents confirm his involvement in Hamas activities,” it alleged.
Journalists and activists on social media pointed out that the publication of the names and photos of the six journalists may pave the way for their assassination, as has happened with other journalists.
By the beginning of this month, Israel had killed 176 journalists in Gaza since the Israeli army launched its war on Palestinians in the enclave on 7 October 2023.
Israel has killed almost 42,800 people in Gaza since a cross-border incursion by Hamas last October, and wounded more than 100,000 others. Most of the casualties are children and women. Moreover, an estimated 11,000 are missing, presumed dead, under the rubble of their homes and other civilian infrastructure destroyed by the occupation army.
Tel Aviv continues its offensive, disregarding two UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate halt to the war. The apartheid state also ignores the International Court of Justice order to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
