Hamas has urged the international community, along with journalistic and human rights organisations, to denounce Israel’s actions and violations against journalists in Palestine. It called for immediate measures to safeguard journalists from the occupation’s brutality and crimes, Quds Press reported, citing a press statement issued by the movement.
Hamas denounced “the false claims promoted by the Israeli occupation army, alleging that several journalists from Al Jazeera are linked to resistance factions. Hamas asserted that these journalists are simply covering the atrocities and forced displacement occurring in northern Gaza. The statement described the accusations as exposed incitement aimed at targeting journalists, as part of a broader oppressive policy that has led to the deaths of approximately 177 journalists. This tactic is intended to intimidate journalists, hinder their work, and obscure the ongoing brutal genocide and blatant violations.”
The movement added that “the occupation’s false claims are a prior announcement of its intention to target Al Jazeera journalists, similar to how it has targeted their colleagues from the channel and numerous other local and international media outlets throughout a year of systematic killing and genocide.”
