The Israeli occupation army decided on Wednesday, to establish a new division on the border with Jordan. The decision, said local sources, was made by Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and Chief of Staff General Herzi Halevi.
The new division will be tasked with guarding eastern Israel, dealing with national operations and preventing the smuggling of weapons and other goods. Moreover, it will seek to maintain peaceful relations on the border and increase cooperation with the Jordanian Army.
The decision follows an attack by a Jordanian lorry driver at the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge border crossing. Three Israelis were killed in the incident in September.
