Turkiye’s Minister of Family, Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas, voiced grave concerns about the weaponisation of digital devices, highlighting their use as remotely controlled tools of destruction in conflict zones like Gaza and Lebanon, TRT World reports.
According to the report, the Minister expressed Turkiye’s commitment to standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people, advocating for the protection of human dignity and peace amidst rising tensions.
“We are witnessing alarming developments where digital devices, like remotely controlled phones, are repurposed as weapons in Gaza and Lebanon,” Minister Goktas stated.
“These tools of destruction serve as stark reminders of the evolving nature of warfare and the heightened need for robust international safeguards against such practices.”
Minister Goktas underscored Turkiye’s unwavering support for Palestinians, emphasizing the country’s long-standing commitment to peace, human rights and solidarity.
She reaffirmed that, in the face of these destructive innovations, Turkiye remains dedicated to upholding the dignity and security of individuals affected by these conflicts.
The report added that Minister Goktas’s call for international solidarity aims to inspire a collective response to these alarming tactics and to safeguard peace and human dignity in Gaza, Lebanon and beyond.
