Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that external relations must be aligned to support the country’s internal development.
Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported yesterday that Pezeshkian said: “Whether we like it or not, we will face the United States on regional and international stages; therefore, we must manage these arenas ourselves.”
“In a short period, our government has made substantial efforts and resolved numerous foreign political issues. Today, we have established positive relationships with our neighbouring countries, with whom we signed agreements during our meetings.”
Pezeshkian highlighted Iran’s aspirations to expand relations with all countries, including European states, while noting, “Negotiations with European countries are ongoing, yet recent malicious actions by the Israeli entity have sought to disrupt and complicate this process.”
Earlier yesterday, Iran announced the construction of a defensive tunnel in Tehran, following Israeli strikes on targets within the country late last month. Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported that this is the first time Tehran builds a tunnel for defence purposes. The tunnel, located near the city centre, will connect a Tehran metro station to Imam Khomeini Hospital, allowing direct underground access to the medical facility.
