The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) yesterday called for mobilising Muslim nations to stop the aggression on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement released as the IUMS Board of Trustees meeting came to a close, the body said there was a need to “mobilise the nation and activate its leaders and people to stop the aggression,” stressing it will “continue supporting and endorsing the Palestinian cause, especially in Gaza, giving greater attention to meeting basic needs such as food, medicine, clothing and shelter.”

The statement expressed “its deep regret, denunciation and condemnation of the cowardly position of many Islamic countries that failed to rise to the level of responsibility imposed by Sharia and human conscience before fraternal duty and neighbourliness.”

The IUMS also called for “supporting the Lebanese people, extending a helping hand, and advocating for reconstruction and compensation for those affected,” affirming “its solidarity with the Lebanese people in their defence of sovereignty and land against the Zionist aggression.”

It also announced “its support for the legitimate Sudanese government against the rebellious aggressors who have crossed all limits in their aggression against the lives, money and honour of the country.”
