The Israel occupation army burned a truck yesterday as it was carrying goods in the Zeitoun neighbourhood of Gaza City. The truck was on its way to the south of the Palestinian enclave, which has been suffering under a genocidal blockade and war for more than 14 months.
Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that Israeli soldiers infiltrated the neighbourhood and stopped the private sector truck, forced the driver to get out and took him to an unknown location, and then set the truck on fire. Such trucks usually carry much-needed food supplies.
No information was provided for doing this, but Israel is tightening its siege on Gaza and preventing and obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid. Starving the Palestinians has been weaponised, say observers, as part of the occupation state’s genocide being committed with US support since October 2023.
Israel has killed 45,000 Palestinians, mainly children and women, and wounded 106,000 others since October last year. At least 11,000 are missing, presumed dead, under the rubble of their homes and other civilian infrastructure destroyed by the apartheid state. It is ignoring two warrants issued by the International Criminal Court for the arrest of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinians in Gaza.
Israel also defies the UN Security Council resolution to end the war immediately, as well as the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Tel Aviv has turned Gaza into the world’s largest prison, besieging it for the 18th consecutive year, as well as waging a genocidal war. Two million of its 2.3 million citizens have been displaced in tragic conditions with a deliberately created severe shortage of food, water and medicines.
For decades, Israel has occupied Palestine and parts of Syria and Lebanon. It rejects the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
