Syria’s new government has decided to freeze the constitution and parliament for a three month transitional period, a government official told AFP yesterday.
“A legal and human rights committee will be formed to review the Constitution and propose amendments,” said Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham spokesperson, Obaida Arnaout.
Syrian opposition forces who seized power in Syria on Sunday have appointed Mohammad Al-Bashir as transitional government leader until 1 March 2025.
Al-Bashir previously headed the Salvation Government in the rebel stronghold of Idlib, in northwest Syria.
