Two Russian Ilyushin military transport planes departed Qamishli International Airport in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah province, in what is being seen as a sign of Moscow’s withdrawal from the airstrip.
According to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, this follows reports suggesting a possible full Russian military withdrawal from Syria after Bashar Al-Assad fled to Moscow last week. Satellite imagery has also revealed preparations for Russian troops to withdraw from Qamishli and Latakia.
Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes launched dozens of air strikes across Syria on Saturday night and early Sunday morning, targeting military sites.
The Israeli occupation military spokesperson confirmed that its air force conducted 61 air strikes on Syrian territory over that period, bringing the total number of attacks to 446 since the fall of Assad’s regime.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that “61 air strikes targeted Syrian territory in less than five hours, and the strikes are ongoing.” The organisation added that Israeli warplanes continue their intense escalation.
